You are getting wildly creative, and I'm here for it. Franklin said I would not regret reading this page, and he is right. I wouldn't mind hearing more about how Davey Johnson was effectively locked out of Japanese baseball. Thanks for another bedtime baseball read.

What I gathered is that the manager of Johnson (and Oh's) team in Japan was Shigeo Nagashima, who had just retired after a long playing career. Johnson was injured and under some pretty intense pressure to produce, and that probably didn't help him with overcoming the cultural differences.

I got a pretty strong impression that Nagashima's experience with Johnson spelled the end of his playing days in Japan. It's probably rare that an American player went to play in Japan and then came back. He didn't do too much after he came back, but it kept his career going for a bit longer. Who wouldn't take that?
